Dear LITMUS^RT Community,

Our IT department is asking us to shut down or migrate the LITMUS^RT mailing list because it runs on an outdated software stack that has not been updated for a long time.

Since there hasn't been much traffic in the last few years, and since LITMUS^RT is slowly aging out of relevance without (public) releases (and exciting new features appearing in mainline Linux, especially sched_ext), I don't see the need to set up a successor
mailing list. In the age of Slack, Discord, Zulip, etc., mailing lists have fallen out of favor anyway.

So this mailing list will be shut down at the end of December 2024.

If there's interest in creating a follow-up online community, I suggest we simply create a channel on the TCRTS Discord instance. If anyone wants to join, I'd be happy to lurk there.

It's hard to believe that the original paper by Calandrino et al. (2006) is approaching its 20th anniversary. LITMUS^RT has had a good run and has left its mark on the literature. Thank you all for your contributions and many fruitful discussions over the years!

Best regards,
Björn
