Hi everyone,

I’ve pushed a release candidate for the 2014.2 release to the ‘next’ branch.

	https://github.com/LITMUS-RT/litmus-rt/commits/next

This reflects all patches in the current ‘staging’ branch, with two major changes:

	1) The base kernel is now 3.10.41, the latest stable kernel.

	2) I’ve squashed the history to obtain a clean patch set again.

Note that 2) is periodically required to keep LITMUS^RT reasonably easy to port. 1) means we benefit from the latest critical patches (some of them even specific to scheduler-related race conditions).

Due to time limitations, I currently have no plans to move to a more recent base kernel as long as 3.10 is supported as a stable kernel, though this may change if we run into unsupported hardware. (Generally speaking, I’m also looking for volunteers to help with porting to newer kernel versions.)

Please give it a spin. If there are no issues, I’d like to release it next week. At the very least, please make sure that it compiles with your favorite configuration.

Thanks,
Björn
